Valencia Elementary School’s “Walk for the Arts”

Spring 2009 - Raised over $12,000

The students of Valencia Elementary have had the opportunity to attend some amazing group art programs over the past few years. Arts education is critical for creative expression, reflective thinking, problem solving skills, abstract thought and social interaction. Music helps children to relate to history, society and culture AND helps develop intellect!

However, the arts are NOT a funded program in most K-8 public schools, as is the case at Valencia. Through the efforts of dedicated Valencia parent volunteers and generous family and community (neighbors, relatives, friends, coworkers) and their contributions that the SPECTRA program exists.Valencia raise funds for SPECTRA with the annual Walk for the Arts walk-a-thon fundraiser.

This school year the event will take place on May 14th, 2010. Our goal each year is to raise $14,000. All proceeds from this walk-a-thon go directly towards funding this program. We need everyone’s help to make this program happen each year. YOU are what makes the difference.
