Accelerated Reader Program
Valencia uses the popular Accelerated Reader Program from Renaissance Learning.
We now have Adobe Acrobat copies of lists of Accelerated Reader tests available at Valencia. Over 2,000 tests are available at Valencia and the list is growing. We have made the book list available in four ways.
- A list sorted alphabetically by title is available. Use it if you know the anemof the title. You can see how the book is AR rated for reading difficulty to help you select books your child may be ready to read.
- The same list is available sorted by author last name. Use this if your child has found author he or she enjoys. Search this list for autor because all the author's books will be together in the list.
- The same list is again available but sorted by reading level or ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). Use this version of the list of books if you know your child's reading level and want to find more books he or she may enjoy at that level or perhaps your child is wants to be challenged by finding books that are close to your child's reading level. You can use this list to help determine your child's reading level by looking for books he or she has read and determine the reading level.
- Finally, the same list again is here sorted by point total for the book.
All the lists are about 90 pages long so you need broadband or patience to download this list. Once you have it displayed, you can choose to print some or all of it. The lists are also searchable by name or text string within Adobe Acrobat while you are on line (Control + Find). And of course you can choose to print out just the portions of the list that interests your child.
Valencia will hopefully soon have the resources to organize our list by ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) or by Points or by Author or to keep it completely current however another Pajaro Valley Unified School.
Valencia School Library
Welcome to another year at the Valencia Library. My name is Michelle Galipeaux and I am the Valencia School Librarian.
We have many new books for the students to enjoy . Please help your student take care of the books by keeping them in a safe, dry environment and help them to understand that all books need to be turned in ON TIME so that other students can check them out. Please remember that a charge will be assessed for any damage to or missing books that are not returned. Students who continue to have a problem with the proper care or timely return of their books will not be able to check them out in the future.
Each class comes to the library once a week to listen to a story, learn about the library and check out a book. If they have returned their books on time they are welcome to check out a different books.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call here at school. My ext. is 220.
Thank you,
Michelle
